King Edmund Acrobatics Competition Feb 2014 (Bristol)

WG's Gold and Bronze Medals

And so, after a successful tumbling competition, we jumped straight on a minibus from the competition, to drive down to the South West region to prepare for the Yate International Acro Competition, hosted by one of the best clubs in the country - King Edmund.

It seemed this would be a weekend for Hendon, as we had a complete set of clean routines from every single partnership, and some high technical and artistry scores.

We eventually came away stealing the show with our Grade 4 WG's... taking the Gold and the Bronze medals with Sadie, Sophie & Hannah and Alix, Cassy & Olivia (whom had one of the top 5 artistry scores in the entire competition) respectively.

They were only 0.3 between them (due to technicalities only!!)

Well done to all :)

Heathrow Acro Invitational Feb 2014

ACO Trio in their new leo's

We ventured to Heathrow for the 2nd year running for their invitational Acrobatics competition. We knew it would be a tough cookie! A few nerves were on show as unfortunately two of our five partnerships dropped moves. However, on the upside, our women's pair of Esme and Jasmine completed their routine with neat artistry. Not only that, but our women's groups finished 5th and 7th out of a massive group of 23 partnerships in their category.

Special congrats to Alix, Cassy and Olivia whom gained our highest artistry score of the competition, with 8.63, only 0.27 behind first place, and a measly 0.05 behind second place! See below for full results

South Tyneside International Acro Comp Nov 2013

Esme & Jasmine Bronze

Well what a great competition this was! We knew we will be travelling a fair distance for a very high level competition and to be honest the standard was extremely high.

For the first day our Grade 3 Women's Group did very well and performed a clean routine on the floor only been beaten by two or three of the most experienced clubs in the entire country so well done to them for that!

Our second day of competition was on the Sunday so most of our other partnerships competed with our women's pairs in the morning and I women's groups competing during the afternoon.

All partnerships performed complete and clean routines with very good execution scores throughout with Esme & Jasmine winning a BRONZE medal in our Women's Pairs and two of our Women's Groups both gained the HIGHEST execution marks in the category!

To put it simply, we are beating the best of them! We just need to show off a bit more ;)

Very well done to Esme & Jazzy-pop!

SWIFTS Acro Comp October 2013

What a great way to start our acro season 2013/14…

We ventured down to the south region, after a stern 5am wake up to the SWIFTS acro comp where we entered 2 Womens Groups (WG’s) a Men’s Pair (MP) and a Women’s Pair (WP). Although all performed on the floor with true passion and grace, the WG of Sadie Sophie and Hannah stole the show, as they opened their category at 9am with a GOLD winning performance!

Well done girls, massive achievement after only being together since start of term!

Acro International Comp - Turin Acro Cup, Italy July 2013

Gymnasts at the Finals of the Turin Acro Cup

What a trip that was!!

Despite only having trained in acrobatics since September 2012, we decided to take 8 lucky and talented gymnasts to the 1st Turing Acro Cup – an International Acro competition.

From the day we landed and went into podium training, we realized the standard of competition would be extremely high. Having said that, our gymnasts had actually increased their training hours in preparation for this. They were not out of their league by any stretch…

It was an emotional roller coaster as we started off with a shaky balance routine with our Mixed Pair on Day 1 of the competition, but they had Day 2 to turn it around. We enjoyed watching the higher levels of the competition, seeing some fantastic routines.

Day 2 was an even more emotional day as we started out with a great routine from our trio of Helena, Alix and Ashira, whom after half the routines in their category jumped straight into 2nd place for their qualifiers. Eventually they qualified through in 4th place which is outstanding for their first International competition. Unfortunately our trio of Sadie, Sophie & Jemma had to accept their placing of 10th although at first sight they seemed to have pulled off a great routine. However, due to making some small errors and the fact that there was a 0.7 mark difference between 11th place and 4th place, they just slipped out of finals.

Day 3 allowed for our Mixed pair to redo their balance routine as they qualified through to finals by default. Their routine was much cleaner the second time, however not enough to place.  Our qualifying trio pulled out an outstanding performance in their routine but unfortunately did not complete their very last skill, which was a big shame considering how well they did on Day 2.

Nevertheless, all the gymnasts represented themselves, their club and coaches and their country with great esteem. They came away from the competition with invaluable experience which they will undoubtedly pass onto others. It was a great trip for all!!!

Look out for our Hendon Acro Squad documentary coming soon!

Acro & Tumb Comp Hastings July 2013

MP's In 2nd & 3rd Place
Erin & Olivia - Tumb 2nd & 3rd Place

A very mixed day as we attended another Acro & Tumbling Invitational  competition in Hastings!

Our development squad were out in full force for their first competition. Our Prep Trio of Holly, Mia-Ming and Myssa performed well on the floor. Despite placing 11th, they actually achieved the 5th best technical score so well done!

Our Men’s Pairs of Buster & Seb who attained an excellent technical score of 7.97 and Mika & Rashard who drilled a worthy Artistry score despite a simple routine, both did very well and represented Hendon well in the prep Levels. Hannah & Mia also performed a nice Grade1 routine for their first competition. Unfortunately our Grade2 trio dropped a move and thus gained heavy deductions, although they did perform their routine very well.

Our tumbling was the highlight of the day, achieving a Silver medal and 3 Bronze medals. That’s a whopping 4 medals out of 6 who competed on the day!

Summary:
Erin Kovacs – SILVER
Olivia Foley – BRONZE
Hannah Tang – BRONZE

Yvonne Vasquez – BRONZE
